Elcock and Middletons visit Padstow

Two Van Hool coaches are seen here visiting Padstow in October 2020 while on touring duties.
YJ10 JZC is based on a Volvo B12B chassis and carries an Alizee T9 C49Ft body. It was new to Elcock, Madeley in 6/10 and is seen here still with its original operator. It carried the CJE 32 plate between 12/14 and 4/18 before reverting back to the previous registration.
Alongside is YD14 GFG, a tri-axle integral TX17 Astron model with C48Ft seating capacity. It was new to Parry, Cheslyn Hay in 4/14 and passed to current operator Middletons, Rugeley in 5/19.

Procter's wasn't the only smart DAF Van Hool to pass through Hanley centre - one of the nearby fleet of Copelands was in hot pursuit. A year older than theirs as well, dating from late 1987, but improved by having later-style Alizee frontal treatment.

This MB230 had been new to Eavesway Coaches as E315 EVH, and was that firm's first try at the chassis and body combination that would set them up for years to come. After 10 years there, it spent 8 years with Swiftsure Travel at Burton-on-Trent, and reached Copelands in 2005, where it would end its days in 2014.

One of the coach fleet passed through while I was standing in Hanley - it looked bright and smart for its 23 years, but the livery was a bit of a puzzle ....

The coach fleet by the end was all DAF-based, split between Bova Futuras and DAF-chassised Van Hools. NIL 3944 was an SB3000, and had previously been operated by just one operator, London Coaches, as F260 RJX. Procter's ran it from 1997 until the close in 2013, when it passed to Scragg's, with whom it only ran for a few more months.
